Annalisa Monticelli is a highly sought-after international musician, having performed and recorded in Europe, Asia, North and South America; as a soloist, with ensembles and various orchestras. She studied Classical and Jazz Piano, Voice, Conducting, Music Education, and Chamber Music in Italy, Argentina, and the USA with renowned musicians Nicolo di Marco, Eugenia Rozental, Bruno Canino, Daniel Rivera and Cinzia Gizzi among others. She gave her first solo recital at the age of 10 and gained her first piano certification at the age of 16 with maximum marks. While studying she won numerous first/second prizes in international competitions and participated in numerous international Masterclasses in Europe and the USA.
She started working as a repetiteur in 2006, collaborating with the Montalto Opera program in Montalto Ligure (Italia) under the guidance of Tenor Ugo Benelli and Conductor Angelo Guaragna, and accompanying masterclasses by Wagnerian Soprano Rebecca Turner (USA) and many others.
She gained a Diploma in piano, a Masters in Music Education and a Masters in Piano Performance at the Conservatoire “A. Corelli” in Italy, attaining the highest possible marks, and later she also gained a Master in piano at the Petrie School of Music (USA) under the guidance of Steinway pianist Dr Douglas Weeks. During the 3 years she lived in the United States she had an intense musical activity as a solo pianist (winner of the Young Artist Competition she performed the L.V. Beethoven 3rd Concerto with the Converse Symphony Orchestra), repetiteur, coach for opera productions for the Converse Opera Program as well as piano teacher for the Lawson Academy of the Arts. While in the United States she was honoured with the membership of the professional Honor Society Pi Kappa Lambda, which recognizes musicians who have achieved the highest performing and academic results.
In 2014 she moved to Ireland to work as a repetiteur for the Royal Irish Academy of Music where she later became Italian diction coach and vocal coach. Since then she has regularly performed in all Irish major venues and in England, released various Albums (the latest "A Bluebird Singing"), won Choral Competitions conducting Anam Chamber Choir (Dublin), worked as an Italian coach for numerous Opera productions and masterclasses (in Ireland and abroad) including the recent INO production of Cenerentola and Boheme, given masterclasses and solo recitals in Johor Baru (Malaysia) and accompanied masterclasses for the Institut StimmKünst in Zurich (Switzerland) with Soprano Vera Wenkert. Since 2014 she is accompanist and diction coach for the Bassi Brugnatelli Symposium for Singers and Conductors held in Robbiate (Italy) becoming Executive Director and chief accompanist in 2016. In collaboration with American Clarinetist Berginald Rash, she created “Azulejos”, a new concert series that focuses on promoting Latin American music in Dublin. Annalisa is also a member of Baile An Salsa, an experimental Ensemble that mixes Latin and Irish music creating a unique blend of original songs, and with the group, she toured the USA, Poland and Ireland. Since 2019 she is also pianist and singer for Hibertango Quintet.
Annalisa joined the staff of DkIT Dundalk as an Ass. Lecturer Répétiteur in 2015 and became Programme Director for the Music Department in 2019 and for the recently launched Musical theatre Programme in 2020. Over the last few months, she recorded with the Rte Concert Orchestra for Irish National Opera, performed in Warsaw (Sinfonia Varsovia) and Paris (Centre Culturel Irlandaise) among other major Irish Venues, and is returning both to Warsaw and to Zurich in the near future. To further her education she is undertaking a PhD. Her research focuses on Michele Esposito and the development of his Piano School in Dublin in the late nineteenth Century
Annalisa Monticelli ha al suo attivo numerose esibizioni in Europa, Asia, Nord e Sud America. Originaria di Milazzo, inizia lo studio del pianoforte a Mar del Plata (Argentina) all’età di cinque anni. Ammessa al Conservatorio provinciale “Luis Gianneo” di Mar del Plata, studia con Marta Scafoglio ed Eugenia Rozental, e già all'età di dieci anni partecipa a numerosi concerti sia come solista che in musica da camera. Ha l’onore di partecipare nel 1998 come solista nell “Primo Festival Nazionale Astor Piazzolla (Teatro Colon, Argentina) e nello stesso anno si trasferisce in Italia dove continua gli studi presso il conservatorio “Arcangelo Corelli“ di Messina nella classe del maestro Nicolò Di Marco ed ottiene il diploma in Pianoforte e Didattica della musica, entrambi con il massimo del voti. Successivamente sempre presso l’Ateneo messinese otterrà il Bienno di Secondo livello con il massimo dei voti, lode e menzione d’onore.
In questi anni si esibisce in diversi concerti come solista (eseguendo il repertorio classico e promovendo il repertorio ispano-sudamericano) e come pianista da camera, con la Messina Wind Orchestra e con la formazione “ Prologo e Bel canto” (Soprano, tenore, baritono e pf) in varie località italiane ed all’estero (Spagna, Germania, Romania). Inoltre collabora alle tastiere con le orchestre del Conservatorio Corelli esibendosi al “Teatro Comunale ” di Vittoria (RG), al Teatro “Vittorio Emanuele” di Messina ed al “Teatro Antico” di Taormina. Viene inoltre selezionata per eseguire, come solista al pianoforte con l’orchestra del conservatorio Corelli, due brani della compositrice Teresa Procaccini eseguiti in anteprima mondiale al “Teatro Vittorio Emanuele” di Messina e successivamente incisi nel cd “Fantasia Romantica”, prodotto dalla casa editrice Torinese Scomegna.
Dal 2010 si trasferisce negli Stati Uniti dove ottiene il Master in Piano performance nella classe del maestro Dr Douglas Weeks presso la Petrie School of Music (S.C). Nel 2011 vince la Young Artist Competition e si esibisce eseguendo il terzo Concerto per Pianoforte ed Orchestra di L.V. Beethoven. Partecipa a varie masterclass con artisti di fama internazionale come il Tempest Trio (Israel), Caprice ensemble (Canada), John Nakamatsu ed altri. Lavora come pianista collaboratore per Converse Opera Theatre, eseguendo “The Tender Land”, “Così fan Tutte” e “Hansel and Gretel”. Collabora anche alle tastiere per le orchestre della medesima istituzione. Riceve inoltre l’onorificenza Pi Kappa Lamba ricevuti solo dai musicistii di più alto livello nelle università Americane.
Dal 2014 Partecipa come Pianista accompagnatore al primo Simposium per cantantie direttori d’orchestra Bassi Brugnatelli, collaborando con John Ratledge (direttore artistico) e Rebecca Turner (Artist in Residence) e diventa nel 2018 Capo dei Maestri Collaboratori e Direttore del Simposio . Inoltre nel 2014, dopo aver vinto il concorso per la prima Fellowship per pianisti accompagnatori, si trasferisci a Dublino per lavorare per la Royal Irish Academy of Music. L'anno successivo vince il concorso a cattedra per Assistant Lecturer repetiteur per Istituto Dkit Dundalk, diventando successivamente direttore di dipartimento e contribuendo attivamente alla creazione di nuovi corsi di laurea.
Dal suo arrivo in Irlanda Annalisa si è esibita frequentemente nelle principali sale e teatri Irlandesi ed all’estero (Inghilterra, Svizzera, USA, Lithuania, Polonia, Francia e Malaysia) ed ha registrato tre album, il più recente con la soprano Louise Martyn dedicato alla musica vocale irlandese. Inoltre ha collaborato come coach con la INO (Irish national Opera), con l’Institut StimmKünst a Zurigo ed ha inoltre visitato il Royal Conservatory of Scotland nel quale ha tenuto Masterclasses riguardo al repertorio operistico italiano. Per seguire la sua passione per la musica Sudamericana, dal 2015 fonda (con il Clarinettista americano Berginald Rash) la stagione concertistica “Azulejos” (dedicata alla musica sudamericana), fonda il quintetto Hibertango e dal 2018 forma parte dell’ensemble Baile an Salsa.
